The Knee-Deep Philosophy

Was Knee-Deep really any different to any other square dance club? What made us different (some have said "special") was that not only did we dance Beginners, Mainstream and Plus and have Club Outings, but we tried to make sure that Knee-Deep was a place where you wanted to be - without any pressure.

Our belief has always been that there is more to square dancing than just dancing. There is nothing quite as rewarding as seeing the smiles and hearing the laughter as people from all ages and backgrounds mix together in a friendly atmosphere! Knee-Deep was a place to forget your troubles and have a great time! This formula obviously worked, as we experienced wonderful crowds full of fun and laughter.

New dancers could learn Mainstream and at the same time feel part of the club - there was never any pressure to learn, learn, learn. If you made a mistake just laugh and have another go. This atmosphere also made it fun for experienced dancers to be "angels".

At the same time, we have been proud to provide the best dancing around! Chris was famous for his interesting, smooth, challenging yet non-stressful hoedowns and wonderful singing calls. Our annual "Introduction To Plus" classes were so popular that dancers would travel for hours each week to receive thorough instruction and be part of the fun of Knee-Deep.

Knee-Deep Squares was born in November of 1978 at Sylvania Heights Soccer Club and moved to Jannali Community Hall in October 1979. We danced there until December 2001.

Chris's Calling Career
