The unique thing about becoming a Square Dance caller is that you will be able to give pleasure to many people while at the same time gain a lot of pleasure and satisfaction from the activity yourself. It is my experience that new callers often start out his/her calling by "reciting" a few memorised patterns and learning a few singing calls, but then find it difficult to know what to do next.
This book aims to show the student caller how to get started with calling, and how to progress. This book also shows the importance of using the correct teaching methods for Square Dancing.

For the dancers of today to be able to enjoy Square Dancing, they need to learn a lot of steps. This means of course, that Callers must be able to teach those steps, and have suitable choreography to use in their classes and clubs.
For some new callers, the only source of choreography is from singing call records. One of the largest drawbacks of this is the lack of choreographic material presented in singing call records. Unfortunately, large portions of the Callerlab programs are not very well covered in singing call records and there is very little variety to be found. These books help to fill in the gaps with Teaching hints and modules for both Hoedowns and Singing Calls for each move.
