MacOS 9 Walkthrough
MacOS 9 Comes with everything you need to connect to the Internet,
browse the web, and send email. No additional software is required.
Step 1
Locate the "Internet Setup Assistant". This is found on the hard
drive (usually named "Macintosh HD"), in the "Assistants" folder.
Double click on the Internet Setup Assistant icon to begin the setup
process.

Step 2
Click "Yes" to set up your computer to access the Internet.

Step 3
You already have an account with Easynet, click "Yes".

Step 4
After you have read the introduction, click on the right arrow to
continue.

Step 5
Name this configuration Easynet, and then select the round checkbox
labeled "Modem".
Once completed, click on the right arrow to continue.

Step 6
Select the manufacturer and model of the modem you're using from
the modem pull down menu. Make sure you also specify the port your
modem is connected to. If you're unsure what port your modem is on,
select "Modem Port". Also specify "Tone" dialing.
Once completed, click on the right arrow to continue.

Step 7
Enter the phone number
Enter your username as it appears on your User Information
sheet. Make sure to enter your username in lower case.
Next enter your password. The password is case sensitive, make sure you enter it
correctly.
Once completed, click on the right arrow to continue.

Step 8
Easynet does not utilize PPP Connect Scripts. Select "No" and
then click on the right arrow to continue.

Step 9
Easynet will automatically assign you an IP address. Select "No"
and then click on the right arrow to continue.

Step 10
Leave DNS automatic (nothing in it)
If this does not work our primary DNS server is "203.63.8.27", our
secondary DNS server is "203.63.8.28".
Our Domain Name is "easy.com.au".

Step 11
Your email password is the same as your dialup password. Enter
your password exactly. Pay close attention to upper and lower case
characters as your password is case sensitive.
Once completed, click on the right arrow to continue.

Step 12
Your POP email account is "username@mail.easy.com.au"
The SMTP server is "mail.easy.com.au"
Once completed, click on the right arrow to continue.

Step 13
The NNTP (News) server is "news.easy.com.au"
Once completed, click on the right arrow to continue.

Step 14
Do not use proxy

Step 15
All done! If you're ready to connect, make sure that the
"Connect when Finished" box is checked and then click on
"Go Ahead".

Once you're connected you may use the "Browse the Internet" icon on
your desktop to open your default web browser. Both Internet Explorer
and Netscape Communicator are included with MacOS 9.
To send and receive email, double click on the "Mail" icon on the
desktop. This opens your default email program, typically Outlook
Express.
To connect or disconnect from the Internet, use the
"Remote Access Status" program located under the Apple menu in the
upper left-hand corner of your screen.
