Windows 2000 Configuration Information

Windows 2000 comes with everything you need to get connected, including a web browser and an Internet email client. No additional software is required to use the Internet, but feel free to use whatever Internet applications you're most comfortable with.

When you have met all these requirements, follow these steps to perform the installation and configuration.

Locate the "Internet Connection Wizard" icon on your desktop and double-click on it to start the configuration procedure. If you do not have the icon, click "Start" -> "Settings" -> "Control Panel". When the Control Panel appears, click "Internet Options". When the Internet Properties window appears, select the "Connections" tab, and click the "Setup..." button to start the Internet Connection Wizard.

When the Welcome screen appears, click "I want to setup my Internet Connection manually..." Then click "Next" to continue.

Select "I connect through a phone line and a modem". Then click "Next" to continue.

Easynet dial up number is 0198307019

Enter your username as it appears on your User Information Sheet. Make sure your username is in all lowercase.

Enter "Easynet" followed by the phone number you're dialing into the "Connection Name" field. Then click "Next".

Click "Yes" to continue. If it prompts you to create a new Internet mail account or use an existing account, select "Create a new Internet mail account".

Enter your name into the "Display name" field. Click "Next" when finished.

Enter your email address as it appears on your User Information sheet into the "E-mail address" field. Then click "Next".

Your incoming mail server is a "POP3" server. Enter "mail.easy.com.au" into the Incoming mail server field. Enter "mail.easy.com.au" into the Outgoing mail server field. Click "Next" to continue.

Enter your username as it appears on your User Information Sheet into the "Account name" field. Enter your password as it appears on your User Information sheet into the "Password" field. Note that the password is case sensitive. Click "Next" to continue.

Click "Finish".

To connect to the Internet, simply double-click on the "Internet Explorer" or "Outlook Express" icon on your desktop. If a connection to Easynet is not already established, it will automatically connect for you.
