Setting up the Network Control Panel
From the Windows 95 "Start" menu, select "Settings", then "Control
Panels". Double click on the "Network" control panel to open it.

You must have the "Dial-Up Adapter" and "TCP/IP" components
installed.
If "Dial-Up Adapter" is not listed in the list of installed
components, then click on the "Add" button. You will be asked to
select a network component type, click on "Adapter" then on the
"Add..." button. Next you will be asked to select an adapter. Click
on "Microsoft" in the list of Manufacturers, then on "Dial-Up Adapter"
in the list of Adapters. Click on the "OK" button to finish installing
the component.
If "TCP/IP" or "TCP/IP -> Dial-Up Adapter" is not listed in the list
of installed components, then click on the "Add" button. You will be
asked to select a network component type, click on "Protocol" then on
the "Add..." button. Next you will be asked to select a network
protocol. Click on "Microsoft" in the list of Manufacturers, then on
"TCP/IP" in the list of Network Protocols. Click on the "OK" button to
finish installing the component.
Click on "Dial-Up Adapter" to select it, then click on the
"Properties" button. In the Dial-Up Adapter properties, click on the
"Bindings" tab. The only protocol that should be checked is "TCP/IP".
If any other protocols are checked, click on them to uncheck them.
After this is done, click on the "OK" button to close the Dial-Up
Adapter properties.

Next click on "TCP/IP" to select it, then click on the
"Properties" button. In the TCP/IP properties, click on the "IP
Address" tab. Make sure that the "Obtain an IP address
automatically" option is selected. If it is not, click on it to
select it.

Close the control panel. Windows 95 may ask you to insert your
Windows 95 Installation CD-ROM and/or to restart your computer.
