Red Opal Dance Theatre 1989.... formerly the New Dance Theatre 1967.
Since its 1967 formation the company exemplifies an Australian dance identity. An identity that is highlighted and is perpetuated through the existence of the training system Dance Dynamics, in which the dancers of the company are trained.

The name Red Opal Dance Theatre describes the dance identity of this company:

RED - Vibrant, earthy, arresting, challenging.

OPAL - Inventive formations, radiant, light changing directions, colours, projecting energy from earth into all directions that is uniquely Australian; timeless, time now, time moving.

DANCE - Universal energy, spirit, pulsating, sound, silence, surprising, degrees of dynamics, unexpected, connecting earth to sky.

THEATRE - communication, insight, expression of ideas, degrees of dynamics, abstract, stories.
