Australians have never been great about bragging about their talents and yet there are so many achievements that have gone unrecognised, and why on earth should we brag about a mob of convicts?? Once you get involved with these incredible men and woman and children, you'll be amazed. Being fascinated by the convict era of Australia's history (and discovering three convicts in my own family tree), I decided to embark on a journey of discovery to find out what kind of people they were, how did they shape their lives to survive in a strange land and so many blossomed, produced, reproduced and left behind wonderful stories of their new land. The jewellery pieces have been inspired by these stories, by their "crimes", mostly aggravated by impossible poverty to their survival in the strangest of lands to success through generations. So by purchasing a piece of jewellery, you are obtaining a "piece of a convict's life". I have the privilege of working with some of Australia's most talented silversmiths, so please be patient, this project has taken six years to date but will be continually grow as more convicts show their colours.
